My fiancé and I lived here for two years, while I was attending Dartmouth Medical School and he was attending the Tuck School of Business (we both recently graduated and moved to San Francisco).
We were first attracted to Timberwood since it is one of the few places in the area where you can find a clean, updated apartment with a dishwasher, in-apartment washer/dryer, and central A/C. Both of us have spent a few years doing other degrees at Dartmouth, and have lived in some pretty questionable places around the area (which unfortunately seem to be the norm). We also really enjoyed the other amenities at Timberwood, like the clubhouse with on-site gym and two excellent gas grills (open for use by all residents). All common areas were kept extremely clean. We also appreciated extras like weekly yoga or tai chi classes, and free oatmeal and coffee at the clubhouse in the mornings. Even with all of this the rent was very reasonable for the area.
Debbie Violette, the property manager, is incredibly friendly and accommodating, and made our experience even more worthwhile (this is also pretty rare in the Hanover/Lebanon area!). She was always available to address our questions and concerns, and gave us the recommendations we needed to negotiate the competitive San Francisco rental market. There was some confusion around our move-out date (it ended up being a little earlier than we had planned for), but Debbie went above and beyond to make sure our experience went smoothly, including coming to our apartment to help us pack up and move, and shipping my husband’s bike for him after we left.
Overall, we were both extremely satisfied with our experience at Timberwood, and would definitely recommend it to other graduate students.
I have lived at Timberwood for a little over a year. The location is very convientant to DHMC and the apartments are nice. The staff is really what makes this place exceptional! Living alone as a single professional women I have always felt safe. In addition, the staff and property manager have always go above and beyond with my specific request to make me feel more at home. Anytime I have needed help putting together furniture, moving furniture, putting up curtain rods, etc. they have been right there to assist me. I would recommend this community to anyone looking to rent in the area!
I’ve lived here since the place opened and rented pretty much sight unseen.
Timberwood has exceeded my all my expectations. The place is seriously nice. It’s so close to DHMC that I see quite a few people walk when it’s not too cold. There’s a bus stop right in front of the building with free Valley Transit buses that other people use as well. Pretty convenient.
The gym, clubhouse are top notch. They did take away the Keurig coffee when it was sold to a national company, but I guess it was too good to last. There’s still free coffee, just not Keurig. We use the grill on the clubhouse porch in warm weather for steaks etc, and it’s always available with friendly neighbors to chat with. People are considerate, there’s no loud partying with disruptive behavior. Pet friendly.
The maintenance staff here are great. They wave, they know you. Packages can be delivered to the office and the UPS/Fedex guys can drop off your packages at your door. Shoveling and plowing are done pretty much immediately after the snow stops. There aren’t any tow trucks stalking your car either if you can’t move can’t clean it off right away.
The only downside is that it’s a little pricey for the area, but you get what you pay for. It’s convenient, quiet, comfortable and nice. It’s worth it to me.
